Congratulations to Dr. Negm, Dr. Sanad, Dr. Kranthi and others for the successful WCRC-7 and the reorganization of the ICRA. The new executive committee will be highly productive, and the WCRC-8 in Tashkent will be equally successful.
It is gratifying to recall that the WCRC-1 was held in Australia in 1992, while Lawrence Shaw served as executive director of ICAC, Rafiq Chaudhry was Head of Technical information, and Ralph Schultzé led the organizing committee in Australia. I am sure that everyone involved in the WCRCs during the last thirty years are pleased to see the strong support for international collaboration on cotton research.
Elections have been held in complete violation of the by-laws of ICRA.
There is no such position as President of ICRA Secretariat. Yes, according to the by-laws there could be a Secretary.
There is no position of the Executive Director of ICRA.
The Executive Committee is not a technical committee, so does not require discipline balance. Additions to the EC have been made without any justification. A smaller Committee could manage executive issues better than a big committee.
The EC can appoint any sub committee/advisors but they will report to the EC.
Any changes to by-laws should have been discussed by the EC first and then notified to the ICRA members in advance before presenting to the General Body.
